BMW FlyTime.

BMW, Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Technology Partner, wanted to maximise visibility and awareness with the world’s oldest cup competition’s global TV & online audience.

The solution? Introducing BMW Flytime: a realtime data visualisation which records the percentage time competitors sail up on their ‘foils’ (inverted wings which are manually actuated to lift the Catamaran above the water, reducing drag and amplifying windspeed by upto three). Specially developed on-board sensors push live GPS, pitch, roll and yaw numbers to the watching TV spectator via the unique UX. The technology was also available on-demand within the AC+ service on Tablet and Mobile. Data was converted from knots to mph for a more universal understanding.
